What compounds the heat increase of artificial playing surfaces beyond beyond artificial lawns is the used of small black balls (recycle tires) which added to playing surfaces to provided cushioning, this is very common on football fields, not sure if cushioning for other ball fields uses these approach or some other means to provided cushioning. The number/type of artificial-athletic turf surfaces are quite numerous.
