Thanks, CTCard. Tucson has forecasted highs of 105, 109, 111, 112 Friday through Monday, so that plus Pacific time means that they get the 9 pm ET slot. ESPN would have needed to double up at 9 pm for TTU-Stanford, and I guess there's other programming they'd rather show during prime time.
As best as I can tell, the NCAA doesn't have heat index thresholds above which games will be suspended until the temps cool down. They suspend play when lightning is in the area, but not when heat conditions are dangerous. I find this surprising. Or maybe I became a weather wimp when I moved to California.

If there's one thing people have learned in Berkeley, it's that you can't put "Cal football" and "Rose Bowl" in the same sentence. The words just don't fit. You'd be better off linking "covered wagons" with "Mars travel." (Bruce Jenkins, Cal '70, SF Chronicle, Nov. 11, 2017)
