The thing about baseball is that randomness has an outsized importance, especially in a short series.  I agree with CT that you wouldn't pick Stanford as the favorite, but in an eight team CWS, you might say that Stanford's chances might be a little less than 1 in 8, but it you might peg it at 1 in 10 or 1 in 12.
