No and no.  The female athlete competed in swimming (1996), triathlon (2000, 2004) and modern pentathlon (2008).  She has a gold from swimming, but finished 6th and 23rd in the triathlon and 19th in the modern pentathlon.

I wasn't specific enough in the medalist question; it is someone who won a gold in both summer and winter Olympics, specifically boxing gold in Antwerp and the Bobsled gold in Lake Placid.  There is at least one other person who won a medal (but not necessarily gold) in both summer and winter Olympics, and in fact, did it the same year (1988): Gold in speed skating in Calgary and silver in track cycling in Seoul.
