Jesse Owens degradingly ran against horses after his triumph in Berlin when he was broke, I assume he must have won at times.
Eddie Hart (and a teammate) were given the wrong times for their preliminary 100 meter races and were disqualified, they were watching the prelims on TV and realized that they were absent and had no way of getting to the track in time. Hart was one of the favorites; Valery Borzov won the gold. One of many bizarre incidents at the 1972 amid the tragic murder of Israeli athletes.
Great hurdler Willie Davenport tried the bobsled but am pretty sure never medaled. Benjamin Spock was an Olympic rower but not a Nobel winner I don't think.
