For instance, I see the FIBA site only showing 12-person rosters for the women, but teams (specifically Nigeria) have been talking about 15-person rosters. For the Nigerian women, if they're waiting for Nneka & Chiney to be fully healed, they may wait to the last minute to make their decision.
yes
Because Nneka and Chiney have represented the US in official competition before, they need the governing body to approve a switch in nationality. That's seen as something of a formality as the US didn't oppose it, but it still needs to happen before they can be part of the roster.
Nneka at 80% is still the best player on that team. If she wants to play, you bring her. As I understand it, them being on the 15-player roster rather than the final one is because Nneka and Chiney need approval. Chiney's injury wasn't as serious as Nneka's in any event, so they should both be major contributors for Nigeria--if FIBA allows it.
I'd also like to see the official Athletic Department "Going to Tokyo" posts for Jane Campbell and Catarina Macario if they are indeed now considered Olympians--something we've discussed in detail on the women's soccer olympic thread. The final roster there has been submitted, and they were on it as alternates, but the lack of official, "yep, they're Olympians" acknowledgment is irritating.
