Congrats to your niece, Farmboy!  I’m sure you are very proud.  Seems like the best thing is to be honest with other coaches.  “Thanks for your offer. School X is a wonderful school, and has a great beach program, but I recently committed to Stanford, contingent on being admitted. I will let you know if I need to reopen my recruitment due to problems with admission.”

I think coaches know the drill with Stanford, and probably would appreciate honesty. They wouldn’t hold a spot open, but if a spot is still available, i doubt they would hesitate to take her.

In the meantime, I hope your niece is working to meet the academic goals.  I look forward to rooting for her when she’s here.

Terrific advice! When Tim committed, I was aware that Stanford WVB did not want recruits publicizing their commitments before admission, to spare embarrassing the player who doesn't get in, but I told Tim to tell the world. My reasoning was that he knew what he needed to do in the classroom and on the ACT to be admitted and now he could not slack off. He would have to tell everyone that he was not accepted...I wanted that to motivate him. Turns out he didn't need that. He graduated HS with a 4.2 GPA and got 34 on his ACT.
