On a sports talk show they suggested UCLA and USC followed by Stanford and Cal to the B1G for academic reasons but mainly the LA and San Francisco TV markets.
IMO San Francisco does not really follow Stanford football or Stanford sports in general and LA is not a big follower of UCLA or USC; maybe USC football to some extent.
