The Athletic’s Andy Staples is suggesting the Big Ten add USC, UCLA, Stanford, Cal, Oregon and Washington.  The 20 teams would be divided into four divisions with Ohio State, Michigan, Michigan State, Stanford and Cal comprising one of the divisions. 

Lots of interesting/crazy ideas are floating around………

Why not add AZ, CO, UT, and ASU, to make it 24 teams with the 6 pacific schools in 1 division?  It'll be a giant conference with average quality about the same as it was when the BigTen and Pac-12 were separate.  Slight upgrade by screwing over OSU and WSU.  

I'm not really proposing this.  Just suggesting that there's probably no way to create a conference that competes at close to the same level as the SEC with Texas and Oklahoma added.

And competing with the new SEC would be even more difficult (really impossible) if the SEC were to poach Clemson and FSU from the ACC (which seems not that unlikely).

It would be a bit funny if all this realignment happened and then the Pac-12, Big Ten, ACC, and rump Big 12 outvoted the SEC on a shift to a 6-team playoff with each conference champion getting one spot and the highest-ranked G5 team getting a spot.
