The "Conference of Champions" (pac-12.com) certainly makes these claims during/after every Olympic Games. Google "pac-12 Olympic medals if a country" and all the links come up.
OK, but you still haven't answered my question. When has Stanford made the claim that, if it were a country, it would have placed "x" in the Olympics in total medals? I do peruse gostanford.com and Stanford Magazine, and I don't remember an official Stanford statement to that effect.
If there's one thing people have learned in Berkeley, it's that you can't put "Cal football" and "Rose Bowl" in the same sentence. The words just don't fit. You'd be better off linking "covered wagons" with "Mars travel." (Bruce Jenkins, Cal '70, SF Chronicle, Nov. 11, 2017)
