But that ain't how the Olympics counts medals--the US gets one Bronze for women's soccer, not 22 of them. We get one medal for each of those relays, not four.
I think it's meaningful to keep track of all medals won by Stanford athletes, including all of the medals won by each member of a team or a relay. For example, the fact that Stanford produced five members of a medal-winning team, rather than just one, says something about the strength of Stanford's program and the amount of top-tier talent that has come out of Stanford. I think it is legitimate to celebrate all five medals. I have no problem with publicizing all of those medals.
