Jeez, folks, I thought my double exclamation point and question marks at the end of my comment accusing Stanford of lying to me signaled that this was somewhat tongue in cheek. It's not that big of a deal. 

But I certainly agree with what appears to be the consensus: (1) all medals are worthy of celebration, getting five in one fell swoop from women's soccer is an awesome testament to Stanford's program, and I'm excited about every last one; (2) using all medals to compare with other schools seems all good, because it's how everyone does it, and it seems like a better measure of how many medalists a school is contributing; and (3) the "would rank as a country" puffery is fun and a bit silly yet inaccurate in terms of how the Olympics tracks medals. 

The Olympics are the best. Go Team USA! Go Stanford!
