I, for one, agree completely. To the extent that he thinks of this stuff I bet that he feels "there is a group of fans that don't appreciate the job that I've done, maybe they'll feel differently when I'm gone" as opposed to "fooled 'em again".

Regardless of how you feel about his actual performance, there's no chance that he's at home thinking "there are some Internet posters who know more about football that I do, I'm glad that most of the public hasn't caught on to the fact that I've won over 70% of the games - at Stanford - despite my incompetence."

In my experience, most people who earn large sums of money (such as $9 million per year) attribute their success to their own brilliance, whether justified or not. I doubt that Shaw is the exception.
