This seems to be a table of US medalists and their university affiliations. Could USC have a lot of non-US medalists affiliated with them, who would not count in this table?
Correct. Taylor Ruck's silver and bronze are the reason for Stanford's adjusted total. Meanwhile USC had a number of non-US athletes who won medals. Andre DeGrasse (Canada) won gold in the 200 meters, and two bronze medals in the relays. USC had athletes representing Italy, Greece and Spain win medals, and Aaron Brown was on the 4x100 relay with DeGrasse.
