FWIW, when Utah/Colorado joined, part of the deal was that they would be able to play USC/UCLA every year which is why they are in the south. Not sure if that's still in play with any future moves.

You could, in theory, continue that.  Every year, the CA-Mountain pairup would be as follows:
Stanford/Cal get UofA/ASU
USC/UCLA get Colorado/Utah

This would enable us (and Cal) to pretend like we were still in the Pac-10, plus we would get to avoid Utah, which has been a bit our bugaboo since they joined.
