Traditional marching bands playing rock tributes always sound like Pat Boone doing covers of soul/R&B songs to me; it takes the heart and soul out of them.  The work put into some of the shows is amazing but the music is boring and, if it is rock that I like, often maddening.  LSJUMB, back when it still had enough members to actually play some songs, was much better than most, but they are not a traditional marching band.  Some other non-traditional bands, see some of the HBCU bands, play in a more rock/soul style that sounds less like elevator music.
