Goodell leaked it because Gruden called him a clueless antifootball pussy (and he was right). I'm sure Goodell has maneuvered some plausible deniability for himself but obviously this leak is his doing.

Gruden insulted a lot of people who had access to the transcripts.  Lots of people with motive.  But yeah, Goodell would be at the top of the list.
