I don't think I can fund anything to complain about in this one. OK, Lexie missed her shots, that's it, but we know what she can do so it doesn't matter much if at all. Clarke was way overmatched but they played hard, and seem like a pretty well coached group. Aside from the Obvious (Belibi, Jones, Brink, Jump, Hulls doing their thing), highlights to me were Bosgana, Iriafen, Emma-Nnopu looking good and Hamilton looking much more comfortable and capable .
Bosgana has work to do but she sure looks like she could very good. She can do too much herself, which can end in wild shots, but she moves well for her height, long arms, good hands, good court awareness, aggressive and vocal, able to drive and shoot from three. Lots to like. Her defense was good against smaller and presumably quicker players. Iriafen rebounds really well and seems to have all the tools and the athleticism to be a fantastic post. Her mid-range shot is pretty too. She hit her FTs well. Emma-Nnopu got the call early and looks a lot improved. Her defense was great, intensity great, and her offense is coming along well. We are so deep but she could earn some playing time just by being a defensive stopper.
I don't think we know for sure about pg play overall but today it looked just fine from Wilson and Hamilton with Lacie helping out some and Bosgana at the end looking comfortable, though her handle does need to improve if she has to be a key ball handler.
Demetre does have a lovely shot, and is very efficient out there. I think for her the issue is where does she get time now? Hard to break into the rotation at the 4 or even the three with the depth of the team at those spots.
Overall it was great to be back in Maples. I'm sure the team appreciated having fans again. They played a fairly crisp and intense game, every last one of them.
Still hoping to see Harriel soon. No idea why she was held out of the open practice and now this game.
