I don't really care if Shaw stays or goes at this point, but the fact you guys all act like he is his own boss, free to remain coach as long as he wants, like he calls the shots, suggests the David Shaw tail wags the Stanford dog. This idea is absurd, and if true, it's completely unhinged.

I think Shaw will leave on his own accord and timetable.  There are intangibles to consider. 

He seems to have a good relationship with his players at least looking from the outside.  None of his players have gotten into any major trouble.  Very few of the players have contracted Covid to my knowledge so they are obeying the rules.  He is a mild-mannered guy who comes across well in interviews.  He’s a family man whose daughter is going to Duke.  He is a role model.  Shaw has become a so-called pillar of Stanford society.  He doesn’t give the administration reason to fire him.

Also the issue of player compensation and forming a union was going strong until the Pandemic shut it down. That movement will be coming back.  The administration knows Shaw is a reasonable guy who will help look for middle ground to resolve the battle.  Type A personality like Harbaugh would be a wild card which the administration would have more trouble handling.
