1) Tara will be concerned about 21 turnovers. If we do that against Texas we will lose--and Texas is better equipped than Morgan State to force turnovers. Wilson with 1 assist and 3 turnovers, Jones and Lexie with three turnovers each as well. Many of them were "trying to do too much" sorts of turnovers--trying to zip the ball in for a spectacular play. If Morgan State got deflections imagine what Texas will do. I bet this is a priority focus the next couple of days.
Meanwhile, Texas played an exhibition game against Oklahoma Baptist University. That team went 3-16 in a NCAA Division II conference (GAC) last year. Texas had 15 turnovers.
Then Texas played New Orleans of the Southland Conference. Last year's RPI was #337 (out of 343). For comparison, Morgan State was #243.
Texas had 12 turnovers. It must have been an ugly game. Remember how the refs in the Stanford game started making calls in favor of the team far behind in the 2nd quarter? In the Texas game, New Orleans had 6 players with 4 fouls and 2 with 3 fouls (total of 33). Texas had 43 FTA. That will keep your TO down! Texas also got 58% of the rebounds on their own shots (UT: 23 OR; OBU 17 DR; Texas missed 19 FTA (apparently 9 were first of 2FT), 20 2pt, 10 3pt)
As I believe was already said, Texas hit 13 of 23 3pt shots. Texas's starting five were relatively short but their two better tall players (6'4", 6'5") played 20 and 16 minutes.
