Bear in mind that it is sometimes hard to tell the difference between hospitalized “with omicron” and “for omicron”.  A patient who has a COPD exacerbation, for example, might be hospitalized for their worsening COPD and not COVID, even though COVID caused their worsening COPD.  And a patient whose heart attack was brought about by the stress induced by COVID might get counted as a heart attack and not a “for COVID” admission.
