She was the assistant coach. IMO this was an acceptable choice; not a great choice. Hope she proves me wrong and goes on to have much success. I expect Stanford will continue to play Penn State every year in pre-conference matches so it's in Stanford's interest for Penn State to continue a winning tradition.
I follow the Penn State WVB board. There weren't any fans particularly happy about the hire. Word was the AD set a deadline of having a head coach in place before spring semester started. Negotiations with bigger name candidates didn't end with a positive result and time ran out
