Thanks for that really interesting story, of which I wasn't aware.
Alas, I wasn't alive in 1862, but I was living in Roble along with at least one other participant on this board during the 1982-83 year. It rained cats-and-dogs well into the spring. At one point some of us thought that Lake Lag--right next to Roble--might overflow. My Huffy didn't have any fenders so on many occasions I attended class with a wet stripe on my back.
