Let's not forget that for most of these athletes, this is to be the pinnacle of their athletic life.  I knew athletes that missed out on their chance to participate in the Olympics because of politics, and that is a shame.  I grant that sometimes such hard politics can have the greater good, but at a cost to the athletes.

While we can vehemently protest the human rights record of the CCP, we may want to cheer for our athletes and have good sportsmanship to all the individuals competing.
