Back in 2012 Samantha Wopat, a member of Stanford WVB, committed suicide in her dorm room.  Stanford authorities and newspaper stories described it as a "medical emergency".  I never saw the word suicide in any official article about her tragic passing.   I heard from players' parents what had happened.

FWIW, it was later reported that her death was due to complications from an attempted suicide: 

In March 2012, Carly's twin sister, Samantha (aka Sam) -- also a member of the Cardinal volleyball team -- attempted suicide. She was admitted to Stanford Hospital and died eight days later. She was 19 years old.
