Sean McGorty ran 27:18 in the same race.
In the same meet, Elise Cranny missed the American record by 1.5 seconds to win the Women's 10,000.

Great evening of running for the former Stanford stars! Watched it all. Cranny's run was equally impressive if not more so as the rabbit dropped at 3k so she had to run the last 7k solo. That's an almost impossible ask. Fisher was (and is) amazing of course, but he had pacers and other guys to run with and "only" led about 1400m of the race.
In a normal evening McGorty's run would be major news. 27:18 is an incredible 10,000 debut, arguably even a historic one. Even more impressive coming off recent achilles surgery. But he barely got a mention nor any television time during the race given what Fisher et al were doing up front!
