As a given, I think we’d have to say luck is subjective. Otherwise there would be someway to objectively classify it and this discussion would be different. So, IMO, our team missing a lot of bunnies in a loss isn’t necessarily bad luck—it might just be bad headspace, the altitude (for the Mountain schools), poor execution, or the defense getting in our heads. But Aliyah Boston missing two point-blank shots in a row that she would normally make automatically, in the national semis? That feels lucky to me.
On the other hand, Aari McDonald missing the 3 at buzzer in the title game? That was good defense. She was way off balance for that shot and heavily defended by 3 players.
