Actually second major violation but that other was long ago.  Some day I’ll post about it. 
We never know other than MBB,  WBB and Football who was the driving force in hires but I’ll give A+ for
Baseball
Softball
Track & Field/ Cross Country
Seemingly very good hires:
Men’s Swimming
Men’s Tennis
Women’s Volleyball. We will know far more in December

People should also remember the rowing coach who suddenly had to leave during the season.  There was a reason for that move

I'll give you softball; and though I like Esquer, baseball grade may be premature.
We shall see.

But let's be real: the single most important thing an AD must do is hire great major sport coaches.*  Let's look at Bernie:  (i) not only retained, but re-upped Shaw to rather ridiculous comp. levels, (ii) kept Dawkins for a long time, (iii) is keeping Haase (though I'm in camp holding onto thin reed of hope), and (iv) thankfully, Tara has been a rock star.

That's a mediocre record (to put in kindly).  And then you pile on the BC List . . . 

*  Actually, at most schools it is probably raising $$.  Fortunately for Bernie (and other Stanford ADs), that is much less of a concern.
