#1 Stanford Women's Water Polo (14-1, 2-0) team will be hosting #3 USC (13-2, 2-0) this Saturday at 1PM. The weather should be partly cloudy and low to mid 70s. (Other events at Stanford that day: all day: T&F; noon: BVB; 2PM SB; 4PM BVB, MPSF MGym Championships. Parking may be challenging)
Although Stanford beat #2 UCLA last weekend in a MPSF game (and also beat them in a non-conference game a month ago), Stanford needs to win this game to remain the front runner for a #1 seed in the MPSF tournament, which means a more-likely place in the NCAA tournament. Stanford beat USC 16-10 a month ago in a non-conference match.
Stanford's only loss was a 9-10 overtime loss to Cal at Stanford in early February. I made the comment that the goalie seemed to be a weak point in that game, but she looked good against UCLA last week.
If you can't make this Saturday's game, maybe you can make Sunday's game (noon vs LMU) or Wednesday's game (5PM vs Santa Clara), or the following Saturday's game (2PM @ SJS (MPSF)), or that Sunday's game (10AM vs Indiana (MPSF)), or watch them seek revenge against Cal on Sunday April 16 at Stanford. That's a long run of close-by games for fans. MPSF tournament will be in L.A. April 22-24.
