Do any of you put stock in the projection systems all the geeks use to predict the baseball season?

I get the idea of comparing players to other players with similar profiles who have been tracked previously, to arrive at a performance projection. But you can never know who has worked to improve what they do or maybe slacked off in the offseason. And most importantly, they can't factor in the the situations players are put in to perform, based on matchups. 

I'm more inclined to believe the Giants baseball operation knows how to get performance out of the players they put on the field, than I am in the projections of the players who will ultimately be asked to perform. I've seen two consecutive years of the Giants performing better than expected, so why would I all of a sudden believe the projections?

I do not put much stock in those projections.  My pessimism is based on what I see as a weak lineup.  Particularly against lefties. I think their pitching, if it stays healthy, will be very good.  But the hitting….  I also think the Pads will be much better.

I keep thinking 2011.
