Stanford is nearly 130 points ahead of last year's pace. At this point last year, Stanford trailed Michigan by 22.5 points, but that margin has ballooned to a 149 point lead for the Wolverines this year.
Last year, Stanford outscored Michigan by 91.75 points in the Spring sports. The Cardinal will have to outdo that by nearly 60 more points in order to overtake Michigan for the Cup this year.
But, of course, Michigan isn't the only threat. Last year's winner, Texas, currently sits in 6th place. Which is a 5-place and 121-point improvement over where the Longhorns were at this point last year. Stanford's current lead over Texas is 171.75 points. But the Longhorns outscored the Cardinal by 220 points in last year's Spring season. So we need to improve on that by nearly 50 points in the final season of this year's campaign.
