Is the NCAA championship format still ten teams - seven automatic bids and three at-large bids? I don't think any school outside of the MPSF has ever received an at-large bid. 4 schools from the MPSF (the champ and 3 at-large) are likely to get bids.

I presume it is the same as the men's.  Only 3 MPSF teams went to the fall's MWP NCAA championships.  Stanford stayed home.

Last year, USC, Stanford, UCLA, and ASU went to the NCAA tournament as the top 4 seeds.

"Last year" = fall of 2020:  A COVID year. At least one (SCIAC) of the conferences that send their winner to the NCAA tournament did not have a season, so there was an extra at-large bid.
