The Cardboard still has a large core of posters that post reasoned, usually knowledgeable posts, and it would be the board's loss to lose any of them. But there are other posters who post what I will call aggressive posts. I, for one, tend to back away when I see tensions rise as they have in the last year or so. I don't come to the Cardboard to argue vehemently; I came to celebrate great performances and suffer tough losses together.
Two sports seem to have a lot of aggressive posts. I tend to avoid those threads.
There are also two posters whose posts too often raise my anger levels. So, I've chosen to ignore them (User CP > Miscellaneous > Buddy/Ignore List) so I just skip their posts. That isn't to say they don't have good things to say, just that what & how they say it rub me the wrong way.
I expect the recent WBB performances have brought in new posters. They and their viewpoints are welcome to me. I hope they adopt a manner of discussing things without being overly contentious. It may take some training and turning of the other cheek.
I'd like to commend the Cardboard community for a calm (surprisingly to me) discussion about the issue of transgender competitors.
My hat's off to BC for often stepping in, not as a moderator but as a poster, and posting a reasoned post when things got edgy.
