We aren't even on the list.

In general it's a good idea to stop listing 247sports' "top schools" as meaning literally anything (unless based on a top list or article).

In this case, however, Manning ain't coming.

I'm not completely out on Lonergan yet. He's coming on an OV in June and could've already committed anywhere else (read: South Carolina) at this point. Why bother waiting?

If articles are that much more meaningful, I read an article a few days ago that listed South Carolina as a heavy favorite for Lonergan. The author (who clearly didn't have a lot of respect for Stanford) listed Stanford as the last one of Lonergan's top five and said we were lucky to be there. Reminded me of the Air Boss comments to Goose in "Top Gun".

He’s wrong. At worst we are #2. (But of course at the end of the day #2 ain’t #1.)
