No, thumbs on scales was not what I meant.  I just meant that Oregon and USC could have benefited from SEC-level conference revenue sharing and continued their national prominence much as Stanford would have.  Perhaps their coaching snafus would have tanked them anyway, but the money couldn't have hurt.
