This was a fantastic day for Stanford and for golf fans. I am thrilled for the team. You prepare and practice and play all year to be in this position.  The pressure of the final is the reward for being successful. I hope that the team can go out tomorrow and enjoy the experience.

That said, Stanford is the underdog. Oregon has had a fantastic spring season. They won 2 tournaments, finished 2nd in two others, won Pac 12s, won their regional. They have played very well in winning their 2 matches today. I think Stanford will need some luck to win.

My $0.02 on the matchups. Winflop may have his own observations. 

Stanford's foundation in match play has been the duo of Krauter and Seay. Both won 2 matches today. Both played exactly the kind of game that Coach Walker expects of them - solid play, lots of pars, opportunistic birdies, don't give opponents too many chances. Both were -1 in beating their Auburn opponents. Seay was -3 and Krauter was +1 in defeating their Georgia opponents. Seay and Krauter are also Stanford's most experienced players as the only junior and the only senior on the team. Coach Walker is playing them in matches 1 and 2 for all of these reasons. Stanford really needs 2 victories here.

Match 3 seems like a mismatch. Englemann is now 0-3 in match play over the past 2 years. In two of those matches, she fell behind early and never got anything going. In the third, she led after 9 holes but could not keep up with her opponent. She just has not been able to play as consistently as her teammates. In the Georgia match, she was -1 (a good round, though her opponent was better). In the Auburn match, she was +9. Unless she is at her best tomorrow, this looks like an Oregon win.

Then you have the anchors in Heck and Zhang. I trust that we will see the national champion and US Amateur champ level of performance from Zhang. But I have no idea what Heck can do. She'll need to dig deep. Bottom line for me is that Stanford needs to win 3 of 4 among Seay, Krauter, Heck and Zhang. That seems like a tall order. But it could happen with a little luck.

Either way, the Pac 12 will win the women's golf championship for the 5th time in 7 years since the format changed.

Another question: what if overall match is tied  (say 2-2-1)after everyone completes round; how is  winning team determined?

Any match that is all square after 18 holes will go to extra holes. They return to the 1st hole and keep playing until someone wins. Example - in 2018 with the match tied 2-2, Ziyi Wang from Stanford and Virginia Elena Carta from Duke played 24 holes before Elena Carta pulled it out.

Stanford won the national championship in 2015 when Mariah Stackhouse beat Haley Davis of Baylor on the 19th hole.
