Rogers has been a major piece of the pen for a couple years. If they had a major league level third baseman he gets out of that inning practically unscathed. He will recover. And he a key piece again. But yes, he’s not as good as his twin.
Their numbers aren't all that far apart. The Giants' Tyler Rogers has a better win/loss record (12-5 vs. 17-18), but Taylor has a better career ERA (2.99 to 3.13) and a better career WHIP (1.123 vs. 1.148). Taylor makes $7.3 million, Tyler makes $730k.
Numbers, as often is the case, don’t tell the whole story. Taylor is a left handed closer with plus stuff. Tyler gets by on guile and deception. His value is that he can handle a lot of innings. I think he was in 80 games last year. Which was at the top of all relievers. I like Tyler. But Taylor is better.
