Giants have the wrong twin.

Perhaps the best name for a player...Joc.

Rogers has been a major piece of the pen for a couple years. If they had a major league level third baseman he gets out of that inning practically unscathed. He will recover. And he a key piece again.  But yes, he’s not as good as his twin.

Their numbers aren't all that far apart.  The Giants' Tyler Rogers has a better win/loss record (12-5 vs. 17-18), but Taylor has a better career ERA (2.99 to 3.13) and a better career WHIP (1.123 vs. 1.148).  Taylor makes $7.3 million, Tyler makes $730k.

Numbers, as often is the case, don’t tell the whole story. Taylor is a left handed closer with plus stuff.  Tyler gets by on guile and deception.  His value is that he can handle a lot of innings.  I think he was in 80 games last year. Which was at the top of all relievers.  I like Tyler. But Taylor is better.

That trade of Dubie for Pierpinski doesn't look so good now. He played third better than the Andy Pafko pretender, and he was pretty good in center so no need for Fairchild, whoever he is, and he was a pretty good sub for Crawford instead of whomever.

Problem is - he had no options left. So he was going to be DFA’d.
