Kapler wasn't seeking attention. His post was made for the reason I said, so when people wondered where he was for the anthem playing, they would know. He posted on his personal website, not the Giants' website.

One could say "look at all the attention he is getting over his decision." But there is a profound difference between other people making a big deal about something and you making a big deal about it yourself. "But he should know he will get attention by taking his action and making his statement."  So he's suppose to be held hostage by a segment of society that puts pressure on him to do something he doesn't want to do, just because a relative few people might be bothered if he doesn't?

Here's an idea. Mind your own business. Don't worry about what others are doing that doesn't personally harm you. The only time we ask people to do things that might be against their will is when they are in the greater interest of society write large, and protect people from being harmed. NOBODY is being harmed if a manager of a baseball team isn't present for a song being sung.  

Tempest in a teapot.

Kapler made a statement.  He could have simply done his protest silently.  By making a point of  it, he is sure to draw reaction.  Personally, I do think he made a “big deal out of it.”  In fact he weighed in again yesterday saying he “might” suspend it for Memorial Day.  

In todays world, no question he’d draw responses.  Positive and negative.  Social media is nothing if not prolific.  And judgmental.

So if he would draw a response he shouldn't do it?

He's trying to elicit as little a response as possible, given his position.
