Yep, the Giants do need to get younger.  They are well on their way towards that goal.  Unfortunately, Zaidi walked into a farm system that was bereft of talent. It takes time to build a pipeline that will provide a steady stream of players who can play effectively at the big league level.  

Currently, the Giants have a quite a few guys who appear to be ready to make their debut over the next couple seasons.  It will be interesting to see how those players are integrated into the mix and how the Giants handle the sunset of the careers of the older guys.  

One other thought… 

The most valuable lesson I have learned from following sports over the last sixty+ years is enjoy the ride and don’t pin everything on winning the last game.  The two professional teams I follow most closely are the Giants and 49ers.  Since 1958, they have won a collective eight championships. That is 6.25% (8/128) of all seasons played or 120 “failures”.  In most aspects of life, if you are batting .0625, you stop beating yourself up and move on to something else.  Sports is different.  We stick with it for that 1 in 16 shot.  Enjoy the ride!

My suggestion is that if you are going to do something, do it sooner than later. It's June 7. I gave the Giants two months. They aren't terrible, but they aren't a contender. Given their age, it's time to cash in some trade chips for even more prospects.

He would never say it, but given how sharp Zaidi is, it is hard for me to believe the Giants are much worse than he anticipated. Frankly, I think Zaidi signed Rodon and Pedersen knowing they could be valuable trade chips more than he thought they could help the Giants come close to repeating 2021.
