It’s a good analysis; I think it sucks any way you do it for joining the B1G, and it is not student-athlete centric.
The best way to do it is probably have four teams go to a single site for a week end, and then either play a round robin or play two matches. You probably need an unbalanced schedule, or to have divisions. If there are 20 teams, you have two 10-team divisions play a round robin within the division, and maybe a conference tournament.
But no question it sucks.
