I'm a 41 year fan, matriculating on campus in 1981.  Every 5-8 years we predict the end of Stanford football and the "might as well join the Ivies" echo rebounds again.  I first heard it in Daily editorial after Wiggins' dismal 1-10 1983 season.  That was followed by Denny Green and Ty Willingham.  

Green followed Jack Elway. Willingham followed Walsh II.
