Can you blame USC? It's all about the TV money and the Pac-12 just wasn't cutting it and couldn't land the big contracts like the SEC and Big-10. USC had to leave for the bigger payday of the Big-10 TV rights. Oklahoma and Texas left for the SEC for the same reason. 

Let's also not forget that USC carried the conference for decades.  (USC and the little 7)  USC deserved better, realignment is happening and if they didn't act now, they would have fall further behind the other elite programs. Blame the Pac-12, not the Trojans.

I disagree- USC is the bad guy here.  Despite all the wringing of hands, the league was going to get a better deal in a couple of years.  It would have been money spread around the other Pac-12 teams, but still there was more money coming.  The LA schools decided to stick a dagger in the side of their west coast brothers because they wanted more money for themselves- the rest of the league be damned.

The Trojans always acted as if they deserved better, even when they didn't earn it.  They had trouble competing with the rest of the PAC-12 over the last few decades- their glory years of the last century are way in the rear view mirror.  The way they ran through coaches was comical.

I think its a blessing in disguise to be rid of USC.  The new Pac-10 will occasionally have its champ qualify for the expanded playoffs.  They will still get out of conference matchups with the other league.  Life will continue.  Coaches might take a pay cut- an idea that is ripe for this time.  If Shaw needs to move on because he can't get by on less than $9million per year, then so be it.  There are others who would take that job at half the pay.

USC will continue to complain that the world owes them something for their greatness, as they get thumped by the beef in the B1G.
