Big news from a big one
Is he another guy who won't be here until 2025?
That's my understanding. 2027-2028 as the revival of Stanford football (maybe with a new coach by then)?
Troy Taylor.
We could do much worse! I wish he were our coach today. At bare minimum, it's a post-Shaw palate cleanser for the offensive identity. I think that's important given Stanford's historical heritage with offense and how much it's a turn-the-lights-out moment for the program if we can no longer consistently recruit top 12 QBs nationally. But beyond that, I think Taylor may be a hell of a coach. He's coached two seasons at Sacramento State and they were the first ever FCS playoff seasons for the Hornets and clearly the best seasons since the 1960s. That's an initial two years that make me think this is a coach major college football teams would want to scoop up pretty soon.
The problem we face is that Shaw is several years younger than Taylor and has a cushy gig. Taylor would be a great option for Stanford or Fresno State, but Tedford and Shaw will get to retire on their own timetables.
