As the schools generate more money and stuff like this becomes the norm, there are are two things that seem destined to happen:

1. Players will form an organized labor movement to get paid from schools
2. Schools will be taxed

Could also see the possibility of Congress declaring any athlete who takes NIL money - or over a certain threshold - has to declare their scholarship, room, board, etc. as taxable income.

Nothing would force more honesty in professional college sports than this. It would be the driving force to separate football from schools as a purely educational endeavor, and allow the schools to license their names to have professional minor league football, with its own standards and regulations totally apart from the NCAA. Oh the irony, given the NCAA was started specifically to address the dangers of college football.

Notre Dame AD Jack Swarbrick has said this model of schools licensing their own NIL to professional football operations is what is ultimately coming.
