Good call Bob. I certainly remember the many practices we watched alongside each other and you/other venerable railbirds chuckling at me skipping classes to swim/sunbathe at Avery and then come over to the rail dripping wet to watch the action with you. Ryan Whalen got to campus after I had graduated and moved cross-country so I didn't have railbird eyes on him, but I don't doubt your account of your foresight on that one.
The utility of walk-ons who shouldn't be walk-ons can be apparent quite early. Whalen saw the field in every game of his redshirt freshman year. Brock Jones immediately converted to a scholarship player once getting on campus (but then made a wise career choice pivot). David Parry was a key backup as a redshirt freshman. I am hoping Jason Thompson is our next in that line and sees the field in 2023/earns a scholarship.
Whether your past perspicacity lends credence to your predictions for 2022 is another matter, but I sure hope you're right. I'd love to get some El Paso machaca, LA street tacos, or Las Vegas nightlife in my system before the end of the year. Heck, the new ESPN-owned bowls puts on the table Dallas and St. Petersburg, which I'd be less excited about but would happily attend.
