Interesting article in The Athletic. Rod Carew at a Hall of Fame dinner lit into Rob Manfred. His general theme - analytics are ruining baseball. Which Manfred essentially agrees with but says you can’t do anything about it. Which is somewhat true.
Funny - at the time I was watching Tommy La Stella hit. Runner on first and they put on the shift against him. it. Its Tommy La Stella. He doesn’t have much power. Although he’s tried to add to his power so he’s swinging more with a “launch angle”. But he has most of the left side available. And what does he do – of course he’s swigging from the heels. He ended up walking. But I just kind of shook my head. I thought about how somebody like Rod Carew – a true artist with the bat - thinks looking at that.
