Given the lack of depth at some of the LB positions, Williams was a must-get. Glad he's on board.
In the bigger picture of the '23 class, not much in the way of surprises recently. Esera and Thomason committed to BYU and Williams committed to Stanford. Stanford does have a good history with LDS recruits, and has a couple this year, but it's tough to say the losses were too unexpected. At this point, I haven't heard about any new offers or other movement, so it looks like Stanford still is waiting on Su'a, Newsom, Smith, Johnson, Hughes, and Lee. They all look like quality recruits, and given the current class size and anticipated transfer portal attrition, Stanford needs all the quality recruits it can get. I have to think admissions will play a key role in most of these decisions, but it's tough to know for sure. Also, I don't know what hope there is to land a scholarship level QB in this class, but I'm still holding my breath.
