McKee is a very good passer. He needs to learn how to buy himself a bit more time in the pocket. His lack of pocket awareness is particularly problematic on our team.
The biggest difference between McKee and all of the other quarterbacks that we've faced this year is that the other guys are throwing to wide open receivers. Our schemes do not seem to create wide open receivers the way our opponents' schemes do. McKee always needs to throw his receivers open because the schemes have not made them wide open. (Mind you, he is stunningly accurate at times and has the ability to throw them open, but everything needs to go just right.) In addition, our lack of pass rush affords opposing QBs an incredible amount of time to find open receivers. McKee does not have the luxury of that time, and he doesn't help himself by buying more time.
Patu is not the easy answer, unfortunately.
I also agree with TrumpCard above that we are not particularly bad at developing QBs, we're just bad at so many other things right now. Many people thought KJ would excel once Leach got his hands on him, but it sure didn't work out that way.
