Right now, you are correct. Stanford fans don't have a built-in assumption that we should be in the hunt for a Rose Bowl each and every year, unlike Michigan fans that do. However, if we reached the "good but not great" level I am pretty sure that many on this board would quickly adapt to the idea that was not sufficient :-).

For sure, in 2015, more attention was paid to the Northwestern loss than to the Rose Bowl win.
