Given Stanford's anticipated roster and the lack of bodies, I can see why Shaw might make offers like this one, but it still reinforces the observation we've all made, which is that Stanford recruiting appears to have taken a hit compared to the glory years.

As opposed to last-minute Plan B offers to total studs like low-3* Denzel Franklin, low-3* Jay Tyler, 2* Paxton Segina, and 2* Dorian Maddox. Michael Rector was a similarly low-rated guy who worked out well though, FWIW. As was Drake Nugent.

We've had 1-2 of these basically every year. The issue is the lack of premier recruits - or as Matt likes to say, DUDES - at the top.

Fair point.  I guess I am just thinking that the guy who was the 20th recruit in prior classes is going to be the 15th guy in this class.  And as you said, the top 2-3 guys in those classes simply don't exist in this incoming class.
